CLEVELAND, Ohio — Saturday’s game between the Guardians and White Sox at Progressive Field, which was scheduled to start at 6:10 PM, was delayed by rain.
With rain yet to fall on Progressive Field, the threat of inclement weather caused the Guardians to call for the field to be covered about 40 minutes before game time.
Shane Bieber (8-6, 3.18) is scheduled for the Guardians against Chicago’s Johnny Cueto (5-5, 2.78). Bieber is 7-3 in his career against the Pale Hose.
If this match is cancelled, the two teams will have a mutual day off on September 15th when it can be played again. The Guardians have already played an MLB-high 10 doubleheaders this year due to inclement weather and COVID-19. They have one double header left.
The Guards lead the season run between the two teams, 9-5. They defeated the Chicago on Friday, 5-2, to drop Chicago to 3 1/2 games off the pace in the AL Central. The G’s had a one game lead over the Twins.
